Academic Pathway
A purposeful progression from student voice to civic leadership.
LPP students build their knowledge and skills across law, public policy, civil discourse, restorative justice, advocacy, and professional readiness.
Each year builds on the last, moving students from foundational learning to authentic legal and civic practice, leadership, and public action.

Grade 10 - Understand Rights & Power
Constitutional Law + Law & Justice Advocacy
Students examine constitutional rights, landmark cases, legal reasoning, advocacy, public policy, and the systems that shape their lives. Through case analysis, discussion, research, and authentic civic projects, students begin developing the skills to understand and influence law and policy. We partner with American University Washington College of Law and send students to the regional moot court competition each year.

Grade 11 - Practice Law & Advocacy
Street Law: Trial Advocacy
In partnership with Georgetown University Law Center, students deepen their understanding of practical law while developing skills in legal analysis, argumentation, negotiation, and trial advocacy. The year culminates in an authentic mock trial experience.

Grade 12 - Lead, Restore & Act
GoGo, Human Rights & Social Action + Youth Justice
Seniors examine human rights, identity, culture, justice, and civic responsibility while applying their learning through restorative practices, Peer Court, media and storytelling, professional readiness, community engagement, and student-led civic action.

Learning Beyond the Course Sequence
The LPP experience extends beyond individual courses. Students build a cumulative portfolio of authentic work and participate in experiences such as mock trial, Peer Court, Civic Discourse Day, field experiences, guest speakers, public policy projects, civic action, internships, professional learning, and credential opportunities. By graduation, students have not simply studied law and public policy-they have practiced using their knowledge, voice, and leadership in real-world settings.
